Cloud Application Development and the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam

This month, I’m embarking on a thrilling yet daunting journey: preparing for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. The best part? Full Sail University’s Cloud Application Development course is not only designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for this exam but also offers an enticing incentive. Upon completing the AWS Academy, I’ll receive a certificate of completion, and they’ll provide me with a voucher that offers a discount on the exam fee. This means that if I successfully pass the exam, I’ll obtain a globally recognized certification that validates my expertise in AWS cloud computing services and concepts. This certification holds immense potential benefits for my career in the tech industry, including:

  • Career Advancement: It opens up new job opportunities and has the potential to significantly boost my earning potential.
  • Skill Validation: It serves as a testament to my proficiency in AWS cloud computing, a highly sought-after skill.
  • Industry Recognition: It’s globally recognized, which can help me stand out in a competitive job market.
  • Networking Opportunities: It provides a platform to connect with other AWS professionals and industry experts.

I’m not yet committed to a career in cloud computing, but I recognize its rapid growth and numerous opportunities. I want to keep my options open and believe it’ll be a fantastic way to expand my knowledge and skills in the tech industry. So, I’m thrilled to take on this challenge and see where it leads me!

Course Setup at Full Sail University

Each week, the course is broken down into different topics and assignments that focus on cloud application development and AWS services.

  • Week 1: Students learn about various cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, cloud services, and cloud providers. They also delve into the ethics of cloud computing.
  • Week 2: This week builds on the previous week’s knowledge by exploring cloud computing software functions and serverless technology. Students learn about YAML, Lambda, SDK, and CDK.
  • Week 3: Students utilize the latest industry APIs and deepen their understanding of cloud services. Themes include AppSync, Amplify, DynamoDB, and Cognito.
  • Week 4: In the final week, students learn advanced JavaScript methods and apply them to their applications. Themes include SAM and facial recognition software.

The course has been straightforward so far, allowing me to use the AWS Academy as a valuable learning resource. I can progress through the modules at my own pace, which has been beneficial. The academy offers labs where I can practice what I’m learning, and I can take notes and review the material as needed, which helps me grasp the rules and concepts of cloud computing. Before this course, my knowledge of cloud computing was limited, but now I feel much more confident in my understanding of the basics and how it operates. I’m excited to continue learning and explore how I can apply this knowledge in the future!

Exam Preparation and What I Am Nervous About

As I prepare for the exam, I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. I’m eager to test my knowledge and see how well I’ve learned the material. However, I’m also concerned about the challenges that lie ahead and the pressure to perform well. I’m determined to overcome these nerves and demonstrate my understanding of cloud computing concepts and practices.

I’m apprehensive about the extensive material I need to learn and comprehend to pass the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. The exam covers a broad spectrum of topics, including cloud concepts, security, technology, and billing and pricing. I’m committed to thorough preparation and a comprehensive understanding of all the exam topics. Multiple-choice questions can be particularly challenging. To overcome this, I’ve adopted a strategy of eliminating incorrect answers rather than actively searching for the correct one. I find it difficult to retain information. While I can learn and comprehend concepts, recalling them becomes a significant struggle. This is where I believe taking notes and reviewing them will be beneficial. Additionally, I plan to create flashcards to aid in memorizing key concepts and terms. I acknowledge that the exam will be demanding, but I’m determined to give it my best effort and assess my performance. Ultimately, I intend to view this experience as a valuable learning opportunity, aiming to enhance my knowledge and skills in cloud computing, irrespective of the exam’s outcome. I’m excited to embark on this challenge and explore its potential outcomes!

My Career Destination

It remains uncertain for me, but I am open to exploring various career paths in the tech industry. My age is a factor in my career decisions, but I am determined to keep learning and making it my career. I have wasted a lot of my life not pursuing my passions and interests, and I am committed to finishing Full Sail University in less than a year with a degree in web development. I want to ensure that I am well-prepared for any opportunities that come my way. I am excited and have my sights set on a career in a company that values determination, triumph, and failure, and has a culture of learning and growth. I want to be in an environment where I can continue to learn and grow as a developer and contribute to meaningful projects that make a positive impact on the world. I am eager to see where my career takes me and how I can use my skills and knowledge to make a difference in the tech industry!

Final Thoughts

This month will be an intense but fulfilling experience for me. I am excited to learn about cloud computing and prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. I know it will be challenging, but I am determined to give it my best shot and see how I do. Regardless of the exam’s outcome, I am confident that this experience will help me grow and develop my skills in cloud computing, and I am excited to see where it takes me in my career!
